Your Ultimate K-pop Shopping Guide: Myeongdong, Seoul

If you're a K-pop fan visiting Seoul, Myeongdong is basically a dream come true. Known for its lively street culture, endless beauty shops and fashion finds, this neighbourhood is also a K-pop shopping paradise. Whether you're on the hunt for albums, exclusive merchandise, or the latest idol-inspired looks, Myeongdong has got you covered. This guide is based on our recent visit to Seoul in January 2025, so we’ve got the latest scoop for you!

Where to Shop for K-pop Goods in Myeongdong

Myeongdong Underground Shopping (Exits 1 or 2)

Let’s kick things off underground - literally! Beneath the hustle and bustle of Myeongdong’s main streets is a hidden maze of small shops packed with K-pop goodies. Prices here are often lower than at the big stores, and you might even find some rare or older items. Expect a mix of official albums, photocards, posters, stickers, pins, fan-made merch, and cute idol keychains and phone grips. Heads up: some shops are cash-only, so it’s always good to keep some won handy as you explore this K-pop treasure trove.

Music Korea

If you’re looking for a reliable, official K-pop shop, Music Korea is the place to go. Located near the Myeongdong Cathedral (and conveniently just across from our hotel), this store has it all: official albums (from boy/girl groups, OSTs, Trot, and more), concert goods, season’s greetings, light sticks, photo books and more. The staff were super friendly and speak some English, which makes it easy for international fans to find exactly what they need.

Ktown4u

Ktown4u is one of the biggest online K-pop retailers, and sometimes they set up a pop-up store or dedicated space in Myeongdong. It’s always a blast to check out because you’ll find exclusive items like signed albums, limited-edition collaborations, and cool pop-up events cantered around specific groups or themes. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth stopping by!

K Mecca

Located right in the heart of Myeongdong, K Mecca is a must-visit for K-pop fans. The store offers a wide variety of albums and light sticks, all displayed next to big TV screens showing the latest K-pop content. It’s the perfect stop for fans looking to pick up some official merch while soaking in all the K-pop vibes.

Lotte Young Plaza

Lotte Young Plaza is more than just a mall - it’s a K-pop fan’s wonderland. The basement level houses "Palette," an awesome K-pop concept store that combines a record shop with an immersive pop-up space. Fans can explore official albums, limited-edition merch, and seasonal pop-up stores dedicated to specific groups or themes. On the first floor, you’ll find character shops like Kakao Friends, which add some extra Korean pop culture fun to your shopping spree.

Withmuu (Located in Hongdae, not Myeongdong but worth the visit!)

While there is a branch in Myeongdong, we highly recommend checking out the Withmuu store in Hongdae. It’s bigger and has a wider selection of items - especially light sticks. The spacious layout makes it easy to browse through a huge variety of K-pop goodies, including great finds you won’t see in other stores.

Bonus: K-Beauty for K-pop Fans

As you’re shopping, don’t forget about the countless beauty stores in Myeongdong! Seriously, there’s a beauty shop on every corner. If you’re into K-beauty (and who isn’t?), this is the place to stock up on skincare and makeup at tax-free prices. Stores like Innisfree, Etude House, TONYMOLY and Olive Young are just a few popular names. Keep an eye out for free K-pop-themed goodies like photocards or posters during special promotions!

Add Myeongdong to Your Bucket List

Whether you’re a K-pop pro or just diving in, Myeongdong is the ultimate fan experience. You’ll find everything from music and merch to beauty products and spontaneous run-ins with fellow fans. With a little planning (and maybe an empty suitcase or two like us), you can score some of the best souvenirs Seoul has to offer.

Pro tip: If you want to avoid the crowds, try visiting the stores earlier in the morning or later in the evening, especially on weekends. Also, bring both cash and cards since payment options vary between shops. And keep an eye out for special promotions! If your favourite group is having a comeback, you might find themed displays, exclusive merch, or even freebies. During our trip, we spotted huge ads featuring Stray Kids’ Felix and BTS members lighting up the streets - so cool!

And don’t forget to check out nearby cafes—you might stumble upon fan-run pop-ups or cup sleeve events celebrating idol birthdays or comebacks. These little surprises are what make Myeongdong’s K-pop scene so special and immersive.

Happy shopping - and may your bias bless you with great finds!

P.S. If you can’t make it to Seoul, don’t worry! Check out our store for the latest K-pop merch.
